Meghan Lynne Harbison
Meghan grew up in the little town of Horseheads in upstate New York. She was always an athlete, playing basketball, softball and swimming. But it wasn’t until her home turned into two households (both alike in dignity), that she was introduced to the stage.
Meghan started performing in shows with the Horseheads High School Greenroom Players taking her first roles in Alice in Wonderland as the Maid/Flower and Peter Pan as the Lion. From those first roles Meghan had caught the “theater bug” and continued to perform. She was seen as the Flying Crow/Monkey/Ozian/ in The Wizard of Oz. This special production allowed Meghan to defy gravity and Fly with Foy, who has been flying on Broadway since 1957. Meghan was also seen as Lady Merrill in Once Upon A Mattress, a Wickersham Brother in Horton Hears a Who and as a Stepsister in Cinderella with the Greenroom Players. But it wasn’t until she played Yente in Fiddler on the Roof that she found her true calling to be a character actor. After High school Meghan continued to work in theater performing with Wildflower Productions Inc. as Puck in A Midsummer Nights Dream.
Meghan’s love of the theater inspired her to journey to Point Park University in Pittsburgh where she was awarded a talent scholarship and enrolled in the musical theater department. Studying dance, music, acting and auditioning for every production the school offered was hard work. Getting cast in a show at the University was not easy despite the work put forth. However, Meghan did not falter but continued to find the theater. She was seen as Domina in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at The Comtra Theater. Meghan also worked at The Theater Factory in Trafford for several shows. There she was seen as the Landlady/Character Roles in Lucky Stiff , as Susan in No Sex Please, We’re British, and flaunting her stuff as Tessy Tora/Miss Cratchet in Gypsy. Meghan could also be seen on the other side of Pittsburgh at The McKeesport Little Theater. There she was seen as Molly in Jake’s Women and also starred in her first, perhaps only, leading lady role as Deidre in I Hate Hamlet. Finally, there was one role that Meghan was cast in at Point Park University. She was seen as Mother in Bag Lady a student directed One Act directed by the genius, and very talented John Magaro.
Meghan has always been involved in the theater scene on and off the stage. She has tried her hand at directing. Meghan student directed Lost in Yonkers and The Wizard of Oz with Horseheads High School Greenroom Players. Meghan has been honored to work with Pei Chi Su at Point Park University and assist her in Costume Design for First Lady Suite. She has also had experience with stage management putting up Brian Edward’sShakespeare Alive! One Act at Point Park University. Then again joining up with Brian Edward and stage managing Amish Burlesque at the State Theater in Uniontown PA. She has been blessed to work with Amish Burlesque and it’s ever churning characters.
Meghan currently resides in Pittsburgh PA with her fiance and two cats. Another great accomplishment has been Meghan’s training as a Massage Therapist. She is currently practicing massage and hopes to someday combine her two loves, theater and bodywork.
